Raimund Marasigan & Sandwich Bring The House Down At The 2019 ASALUS Christmas Party
by L.D. Ramirez
A very special thank you to the event planners and organizers for making this once-in-a-lifetime event happen.
Intellicare Group employees were electrified when the 2019 ASALUS Christmas Party event hosts announced that Pinoy rock legend Raimund Marasigan would be performing alongside his main band, Sandwich.
People crowded the stagefront and grooved in wild abandon as the rap rock band belted out their signature tracks - Manila, Betamax, Selos, DVD-X, and Sugod.
For variety, Raimund threw in a cocktail of the old and new: "Buhol", an as-of-yet unreleased track that pokes fun at the sad state of traffic in the Philippines, 'Ang Huling El Bimbo', arguably the most famous Eraserheads song ever, and 'Laklak' by the Teeth, a perennial videoke favorite.
Each band member was surprisingly down-to-earth, with solid bassist Myrene Academia casually sipping a beer between sets, Diego Castillo and Mong Alcaraz unleashing their virtuoso guitar skills with quiet confidence, and drummer Mike Dizon tirelessly whiplashing driving drumbeats, grinning all the while.
Frontman and vocalist Raimund took every opportunity to make direct eye contact and shake hands with members of the audience, played with used confetti, took a swig off a steel flask offered by an audience member, and even let a female fan wipe sweat off his brow (I wonder if she's selling that hankie on eBay now).
A very special thank you to the event planners and organizers for making this once-in-a-lifetime event happen. Here's to hoping we get Pedicab or SpongeCola next year eh?
